New Fax Machine Arrangements

Dear Colleagues,

The Clayton School of Information Technology is converting to the new Monash Fax Service on 6th July 2009. This is a service that allows the use of email for sending and receiving faxes.

What is Monash Fax?

Monash Fax provides the user with the ability to send and receive faxes from their PC via their existing email client (Mozilla Thunderbird etc).

Emails and their attached documents can be sent to a fax machine for delivery. Incoming faxes are also delivered to an email account.

To prepare yourself for the conversion, please set aside some time to review the learning material available at the Monash Fax website at:

http://its.monash.edu.au/staff/faxing/

Changes to Service

We will be replacing all existing general access fax lines with a single fax number (x55159). Any faxes received on this number will be emailed to admin staff who will forward them on to the recipient. All existing fax machines will be withdrawn from service.

The Head of School fax number (x58731) will continue to be monitored by Kerry McManus and will serve as the confidential fax line. She will forward on any faxes as required.

Other fax numbers (x58687, x59422, x55146) will be redirected to x55159 for a period of 12 months to allow opportunity to update business cards and contacts.

While many documents can be faxed directly from your PC, the networked photocopiers in building 63 can be used to scan and fax any hardcopy documents you may have. These photocopiers are located in rooms G21, G51 and 127. Instructions will be provided next to these photocopiers closer to the change-over date. Details about this conversion are available at the following website:

Kind Regards,
Glen Pringle
